MISSOULA, MT - The Missoula Osprey could not mount a comeback against the Helena Brewers on Thursday at Kindrick Legion Field, and dropped a 4-3 decision in front of 772 fans.

The loss means that the Great Falls Voyagers will win the second half North Division title, and the Osprey will enter the playoffs as a wild-card team from the North.

The Osprey fell behind 1-0 before they scored in the top of the fourth inning. Paul Goldschmidt hit a leadoff triple off the right-center field wall, and scored on Ramon Castillo's single to tie the game at 1-1.

The Brewers scored twice in the home half of the fourth to take a 3-1 lead, but the Osprey answered with a run on a double steal to cut into the deficit. Chris Owings stole second and Ender Inciarte, who was on third, scored on the back end to make it a 3-2 Helena advantage.

The Brewers pushed the lead back to 4-2 in the sixth, but the Osprey crawled back to within a run in the top of the eighth inning. Owings singled, moved to second on a Goldschmidt groundout and scored on Castillo's double down the left-field line, making it a one-run game.

Bobby Stone walked behind Castillo, but Helena reliever Matt Costello retired both Bobby Borchering and Raywily Gomez to get out of the inning.

Owings and Castillo each had two hits for the Osprey, who would finish the night with eight safeties. Borchering, Inciarte and Henry Zabala also singled for Missoula.

The regular-season finale for both teams will take place on Friday at Kindrick Legion Field. The Osprey will send the reigning Pioneer League Pitcher of the Week, Enrique Burgos, to the mound, while the Brewers will have left-hander Chris Capuano on the hill, making his final rehab start for the Brewers.

The Osprey will be back at home to open the North Division playoffs on Saturday against the Great Falls Voyagers. Tickets for the playoff game can be obtained by calling the Osprey at (406) 543-3300, stopping by the Osprey Team Store at 412 W. Alder, or ordering online at www.missoulaosprey.com.
