Missoula PaddleHeads News Release
MISSOULA, MT - The final home game of the 2009 regular season did not go the way the Missoula Osprey would have liked on Wednesday at Ogren Park Allegiance Field.
The Billings Mustangs rallied for a 3-2 win over the Osprey, allowing them to get their first win in Missoula since last season, ending a seven-game Osprey win streak at home against the Mustangs.
Still, at 7-1, the Osprey managed to finish off their best home record ever against any division foe. They had beaten Great Falls and Helena six times during the 2006 season at home (6-2), and did post a 5-1 mark against the Mustangs in 2007.
Bobby Stone hit his 16th home run of the season, while Ender Inciarte singled home a run in the fourth to give the Osprey a 2-1 lead. Both had two hits each, combining for four of the six Missoula hits on the night. Keon Broxton and Jae Yun Kim accounted for the other singles for the Osprey.
The Mustangs would come back and score a run in the top of the eighth and one more in the top of the ninth off of Diogenes Rosario (1-1) to get the win.
The Osprey finished the second with their second-largest attendance figure ever. After 2,438 fans attended the regular season home finale on Wednesday, the Osprey had 85,034 fans come through the gates in 2009, the most since over 86,000 fans watched Osprey baseball at home during the 2007 season.
The Osprey will head to Helena for the final two games of the 2009 regular season, as they will take on the Brewers at Kindrick Legion Field. Chase Anderson (3-1, 2.53) will make the start for the Osprey, while left-hander Del Howell will get the call for the Brewers.
The Osprey will host Great Falls in Game 1 of the Pioneer League North Division Playoffs on Saturday, September 12. Tickets for the playoff game can be obtained by calling the Osprey at (406) 543-3300, stopping by the Osprey Team Store at 412 W. Alder, or ordering online at www.missoulaosprey.com.
