OTTAWA - The OSEG Foundation today announced its initial funding objective of $1 million has been surpassed. The Foundation, which is focused on providing all children in our community with an opportunity to access to organized sports, has raised $1.25 million in only four months of operation through a Founding Donor initiative.
"We're thrilled," said Janice Barresi, Executive Director of the Foundation. "25 Founding Donors have stepped forward to enable youth in our community to participate in sports and develop skills and character traits that will benefit them throughout their lives. It's a long-term investment in people and community and we are extremely grateful."
Over and above the fitness and health benefits, participation in organized sports teaches teamwork, develops problem-solving skills and helps boost self-confidence and self-esteem. These traits contribute to an individual's personal growth and expand opportunities for employment success in the future.
"I'm delighted the OSEG Foundation is off to such a tremendous start," said Roger Greenberg, OSEG's Executive Chairman and Managing Partner and a Foundation Board member. "We owe a great deal of thanks to our Founding Donors for an investment that will pay social dividends over the long-term."
The OSEG Charitable Foundation Founding Donors are:
