Huntsville Havoc News Release

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Huntsville Havoc Head Coach Randy Murphy announced today that the team has re-signed forward Ray Ortiz and signed forward Kyle Tyll.

Ortiz (5-11, 190) was a huge part of the Havoc success last season. He played in 58 games, scored 20 goals and recorded 31 assists while seeing significant playing time on the powerplay and penalty kill. He has played in 124 career games and scored 30 goals and recorded 44 assists.

"I had the pleasure of coaching Ray two years ago in the Central Hockey League and I am looking forward to having the same opportunity here in Huntsville," Murphy said. "Ray is a very consistent and accountable player day in and day out. He continues our theme of hard working players we have been able to sign in order to give us good chances to win every night."

"I'm very excited about coming back to Huntsville," Ortiz said. "I look forward to getting back down there and going back to work and improving on last year. Having played for Coach Murphy before, I know what he demands and I'm sure will bring success and hopefully a championship to Huntsville."

Tyll (5-9, 195) just finished his collegiate career at Sacred Heart University, where he played in 146 career games over four seasons and scored 15 goals with 23 assists.

"Kyle comes to us from a great Division I program where he was well coached and was counted on for four years to be a major contributor," Murphy said. "We look for Kyle to add some offensive flair to his game while maintaining his sound defensive play."

"I talked a lot to Coach Murphy and Coach Paul Snell early in the off-season and I really like what Huntsville had to offer," Tyll said. "I centered a checking line in college so I feel like I can contribute a lot on the energy line and on the penalty kill. I didn't score that many goals in college, but I'm looking to contribute any way I can to help the team win."
