May 15, 2024 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Orlando City SC News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando City SC (3-5-4, 13 points) played to a 0-0 draw against Inter Miami CF (8-2-4, 28 points) on Wednesday night at INTER&Co Stadium. With a record of 3-0-5 all time, the Lions remain unbeaten at home against their in-state rivals.
Goalkeeper Pedro Gallese had three saves on the night and picked up his second clean sheet of the MLS regular season, the first since the season opener against CF Montréal.
Forward Yutaro Tsukada came on in second-half stoppage time and made his MLS debut. Tsukada was drafted in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft with the No. 25 overall pick and has appeared in eight matches for Orlando City B during the MLS NEXT Pro season, scoring three goals and tallying three assists.
The Lions will immediately travel west for a Saturday, May 18, matchup with Western Conference side San Jose Earthquakes at PayPal Park. That match will stream on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV at 10:30 p.m. ET.
Head Coach Oscar Pareja:
"[It was] a very level game. I thought we found two teams that had options. Both could have won it, at the beginning or scoring at the end of the game. Throughout the game we had our options, too. It seems we had a sensation that we could have walked off the field with three points. But I recognize it was a tight game for both teams. The effort from the players was extraordinary and they keep adapting to new things. I'm good with the performance of the team, I'm good. I think we're going in a good direction; I think we're turning things around. We played against a good team who has good momentum, but today we could have walked off with three points."
Match Notes:
With the draw, the Lions hold a record of 3-0-5 all time at home to remain unbeaten against their in-state rivals in Orlando.
Coming on as a second-half substitute, Yutaro Tsukada made his MLS debut.
