ORLANDO - October 2, 2014 - The Orlando City Foundation's (OCF) second annual Celebrity Golf Tournament on Monday, September 29 raised over $40,000, marking the third consecutive OCF event in 2014 to double the amount generated from the previous year.
"I'm delighted by the great turnout and the amount of funds raised by this year's Celebrity Golf Tournament," said Orlando City Director of Community Relations Kay Rawlins. "The Kick for Kak á contest was a huge hit with the winners scoring a soccer ball signed by Kak á ."
Presented by Fairwinds Credit Union, the tournament was held at the pristine Grand Cypress Golf Club, featuring Orlando City professional players and celebrities such as two-time Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series Champion Johnny Damon and Orlando Magic Community Ambassadors Bo Outlaw and Nick Anderson.
The Clear Channel Outdoor team, paired with local radio personality Tom Vann, claimed first place in the tournament, while prominent Parramore dentist Dr. T.J. Dorsey's team finished as runner-up for the second straight year. Dorsey is the founder of the Orlando Minority Youth Golf Association (OMYGA), providing free golf lessons and life skills to inner city youth.
The funds raised by the tournament enhances the Foundation's ability to continue supporting charities and organizations that improve the lives of children in Central Florida. Since its inception, the OCF has been highly active in promoting exercise and healthy eating to families in the local community, supporting organizations dedicated to furthering the sport of soccer and teaching health and wellness.
The Foundation's final event of the year, PlayBingo, will take place at the Rosen Plaza Hotel on November 8, 2014. The brand new ladies event offers a chance to play bingo during a unique luncheon, featuring incredible prizes and guest themed tables.
