Syracuse Silver Knights News Release
SYRACUSE, New York - The Syracuse Silver Knights (5-6, Eastern Division #2) will look to separate themselves from their Thruway Rivals, when they host the Rochester Lancers (5-6, Eastern Division #3) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. EST at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena.
Friday' s clash is the fourth fixture between the two Empire State sides in the 2014-2015 MASL season. The Silver Knights hold a 2-1 series advantage so far this campaign. Syracuse bested Rochester 21-15 last Friday. Bo Jelovac and Cory Elenio charged the Salt City squad to the victory with two goals each. In a new position, Nelson Santana chipped in with 2 of his team-leading 11 assists.
"Assistant Coach Kevin Schalk suggested moving Nelson up top. We had thought about it for a while, and then we did it. He really turned the game around for us," SSK coach Tommy Tanner explained.
The Knights are riding a two-match rivalry winning streak that started with a New Year' s Day conquest, 18-10. Tanner' s club is 14-6 all-time against the Lancers.
The Friday meeting is the third of four battles between the New York teams in January. The Orange, Silver and Black end their busy month with a road contest on January 25 at the Blue Cross Arena.
Coach Doug Miller' s club powered their way past the Detroit Waza Flo 25-13 on last Saturday at the Blue Cross Arena. Andrew Hoxie tallied 4 goals and 4 assists in the forward' s big night. Mauricio Salles managed 2 strikes in the victory to make it a total of 24 strikes during the campaign.
"We' ve just need to stay disciplined and tight on their playmakers. Mauricio is the guy we need to focus on," Tanner said.
Friday' s match will be broadcast live from the War Memorial on GoLiveSportsCast.com beginning at 7:30 p.m. EST with commentary by JP Chunga. The game will be available shortly after its completion as on-demand content.

SSK will finish their homestand against the winless Harrisburg Heat (0-10, Eastern Division #5) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST at the Oncenter.
Sunday' s Eastern Division fixture is the first of a home-and-away set between the Knights and Heat. Syracuse travels to the Farm Show Arena on Saturday, January 24.
The 'Cuse has beaten the Heat twice this season, including a 24-18 victory on December 27, 2014. The New York side is 6-0 against teams from the Keystone State, sweeping its four-meeting series against the Pennsylvania Roar during the 2013-2014 MISL campaign.
"Again, I just want to see our team play our game and dictate the pace with intensity," Tanner said.
Harrisburg is the only winless team in the MASL. The Heat were swept on their most recent trip, a cross country journey to California. Coach Tarik Walker' s team fell to the Ontario Fury 10-9 on Friday and then against the San Diego Sockers 11-4 on last Saturday.
Sunday' s tilt will be broadcast live from the War Memorial on GoLiveSportsCast.com beginning at 1:00 p.m. EST with commentary by JP Chunga. It will be available shortly after its completion as on-demand content.
