ROCHESTER, NY - Below is a list of all the weather that has impacted Opening Day for the Red Wings since 1980. This season marks the first time the Red Wings have postponed the first three home games since 1983.
2018: First three games of the season (April 6-8) postponed due to snow and cold at Frontier Field.
2017: First two games of the season (April 6-7) in Syracuse postponed due to snow and cold.
2016: Opening Day on April 7 in Scranton suspended in the top of the 5th inning due to rain (completed April 8).
Home Opener on April 9 postponed due to rain and cold at Frontier Field.
2014: Home Opener on April 5 postponed due to rain at Frontier Field.
2012: Opening Day on April 5 at Syracuse was delayed 26 minutes before first pitch due to snow and cold.
2007: Opening Day on April 6 vs. Ottawa postponed due to snow at Frontier Field.
2005: Opening Day on April 7 at Syracuse was delayed 44 minutes before first pitch due to rain.
2003: Opening Day on April 3 at Syracuse was played but the next five dates were postponed including April 5 and
6 vs. Syracuse at Frontier Field.
2000: First two home games (April 9-10) postponed at Frontier Field.
1996: First two games of the season (April 4-5) vs. Charlotte postponed at Silver Stadium.
1995: Opening Day on April 6 vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre postponed at Silver Stadium.
1993: Home Opener on April 10 vs. Syracuse postponed at Silver Stadium.
1983: First three home games of the season (April 20-22) vs. Tidewater postponed at Silver Stadium.
1980: Opening Day on April 16 vs. Charlotte postponed at Silver Stadium.
