SoCal Series:
The Reign and Gulls went 6-4-1-1 in the 2016-17 regular season head-to-head series. The two teams met in the postseason last year in the best-of-seven Pacific Division Semifinals with the Reign prevailing four games to one.

In the regular season, the team that grabbed the game's opening goal earned a point in every game in the head-to-head series. Ontario went 5-0-1-0 when scoring first in the series. San Diego was 5-0-0-1.
Getting Nasty:
In the final two games of the 12-game head-to-head series, the Reign and Gulls totaled 34 infractions for 153 penalty minutes including six fighting majors and four game misconducts. Overall, the two teams combined for 146 penalties and 451 penalty minutes over the 12-game series.
Close Games:
In 12 games and over 737 minutes of action, the Reign edged the Gulls, 30-29, in goals.
Series Leaders:
Reign forward Jonny Brodzinski led the regular-season series with five goals and 10 points. Goaltender Jack Campbell went 6-3-1 against the Gulls with a 1.97 goals-against average and .936 save percentage. Forward Chris Wagner, who is currently with the Anaheim Ducks for their Stanley Cup push, led the Gulls with six points (two goals, four assists). Goalie Jhonas Enroth went 4-1-0 against the Reign with a 1.99 goals-against average and .925 save percentage.
Going Streaking into the Playoffs:
Reign defenseman Zac Leslie enters the postseason on a three-game point streak (two goals, one assist). Forward Mike Amadio has four goals and two assists in his last five games. Forward Teddy Purcell a goal and five assists in his last four games. Gulls defenseman Nate Guenin is on a three-game assist streak (three assists) and defenseman Brian Cooper is on a three-game point steak (one goal, three assists). Gulls forward Austin Ortega is on a three-game goal streak (three goals, all against Ontario).
