Welcome to CITIZENS BUSINESS BANK ARENA for today's Professional Arena Soccer League game between the visiting Sacramento Surge and host ONTARIO FURY. Today's game marks the first division game for the Fury, as they face a Sacramento team that lost three times in the span of eight days to open the season, giving up an average of 12 goals per game.
ABOUT THE FURY LAST GAME: Defeated Dallas Sidekicks, 6-5 NEXT GAME: vs. Las Vegas Legends, 4 p.m. Nov. 24
LAST GAME: In a hard-fought contest, the Fury picked up the franchise's first-ever win, defeating the defending Central Division Champion Dallas Sidekicks, 6-5. The teams traded goals early in the first period, than Ontario seized control, scoring the next three, as Eli Gordley netted a power play goal, followed 46 seconds later by a strike from Luis Pinto. Miguel Sanchez finished the three goal run 4:26 into the second, giving Ontario a 4-1 lead. Ontario took a 5-2 lead into halftime, but Dallas coach Tatu got his team fired up for the second half, as they scored the next three goals - two from Patrick Shamu - to tie the game 1:21 into the fourth quarter. But Tino Nunez broke the tie 2:38 later, and the Fury held off a Dallas rally - including playing the final 3:06 with a sixth attacker - for the victory.
FURY FIRSTS: With the Fury having played its first-ever game, the team notched its firsts in every category. OTHER NOTABLE ITEMS: Eli Gordley's two goals were his first in his short PASL career (fourth game). ... Gordley was the only player with multiple points in the game, as seven other members of the Fury contributed either a goal or assist. ... Besides picking up the victory in net, goaltender Sanaldo assisted on the game-winning goal.

ABOUT THE SURGE LAST GAME: Home loss to Bay Area, 12-5 NEXT GAME: Nov. 23, vs. San Diego Sockers
LAST ACTION: Bay Area scored four consecutive second period goals to turn a 3-3 game into a 7-3 halftime advantage en route to the 12-5 victory. Sacramento got two third period goals from Chris Sandoval as they attempted to come back, but Bay Area notched the final three goals of the game.
NEW FACES: Four players will be making their season debuts for the Surge in tonight's game. Attacking midfielders Eric Aragon, Edric Soltero and Irvin Soltero, and defender Andres Villanueva have all been added to Sacramento's roster for the game. Neither the team's leading goal scorer, Chris Sandoval, nor their leader in assists, Jesus Mendez, were scheduled to make the road trip. ABOUT THE SURGE: This is Sacramento's second season in the league, finishing the 2012-13 season with a 1-14 record. They gave up 149 goals, while scoring only 58 in their inaugural season. For the 2013-14 season, the team is playing its home games in Estadio Azteca Soccer Arena in Sacramento, which has a seating capacity of 2,000 spectators.
AROUND THE LEAGUE In Saturday's action, the Monterrey Flash and San Diego Sockers went to only the second tiebreaking shootout in PASL history, with the Flash coming out on top 6-5 (2-1 in the shootout) at Valley View Casino Center in San Diego. The four-time defending champion Sockers are 0-2 to start the season, and are setting out on a four-game road trip, which includes a stop in Ontario on Dec. 12. ... Pacific Division leading Las Vegas extended its season-opening winning streak, blitzing Wichita 14-5 at the Las Vegas Indoor Sports Park. The Legends visit Ontario at 4 p.m. next Sunday. ... Dallas bounced back from its loss to Ontario with a 7-5 victory over visiting Tulsa. The Sidekicks play in the US Open Cup today. ... Overtime was needed in the east, as Cleveland's Alex Bernot scored 1:01 into the extra frame to claim the home victory over cross-state rival Cincinnati. ... Meanwhile, things weren't as close in the battle of Illinois, as the host Chicago Mustangs scored the first five goals at home en route to a 15-2 victory over the Illinois Piasa. ... Defending east champion Detroit got its first win of the season, as they dropped Harrisburg 8-5. ... And in the Central Division, visiting Saltillo knocked off Texas, 5-4. ...
