
One-Goal Game Favors Rapid City

Rapid City, SD 1/20/10 - The Amarillo Gorillas could not hold off the Rapid City Rush assault Wednesday night, falling 6-4.
The first period of play was a back-and-forth affair, as Amarillo answered every Rapid City goal. After a Jon Pelle marker just over seven minutes into the frame, forward Erik Felde scooted his shot past Rapid City goaltender Danny Battochio for his fifth goal of the season. Almost ten minutes later, Rush forward Colt King snapped a quick shot off the face-off win inside in the Amarillo zone, beating Gorillas netminder Mike Brown. Less than two minutes later, forward Stuart MacRae fed the puck cross-ice for Jason Beeman, who scored his 10th goal on the year. Amarillo 2 Rapid City 2 after one period.
Amarillo began the middle frame striking twice. Forward David Nimmo batted in a Joe Guenther shot on the power-play at the 3:23 mark while Felde dumped home his shot less than four minutes later. The Gorillas were sequestered to the penalty box three straight times during the later half of the period and Rapid City connected. Brendon Hodge and Rich Hanson scored with the man-advantage to tie the game at four. After two periods of play, Amarillo 4 Rapid City 4.
Forward Jon Pelle found the twine early in the third period, scoring from the near side of the Amarillo cage. The Rush held the lead for the remainder of the period while adding an empty net goal, defeating the Gorillas 6-4.
With his two-goal effort, forward Erik Felde has 5 goals over his last 4 tilts...David Nimmo's second period goal now gives him 15 points over his last 14 games...Mike Brown stopped 44 of 49 Rush shots on goal.
The Gorillas conclude their three-game road trip this Friday, January 22nd versus the Allen Americans. The game broadcast will start 7:20pm CST and can be followed on 1440 AM ESPN Radio and CHL-TV.
Saturday, January 23rd, the first 500 fans through the doors will receive a Gorillas puck courtesy of Big State Remodeling while "The Glass Doctor" will be raffling off a Phillips 42-inch LCD high-definition television. Raffle tickets are five dollars each (will accept cash only) and can be purchased at the Glass Doctor's concourse booth. The proceeds will go toward the Carenet Pregnancy Centers and the raffle winner will be announced during the third period. Doors open at 6pm and the game begins at 7pm.
Sunday, January 24th, the first 250 fans into the building will be given a mini goalie stick sponsored by Panhandle Tickets. Doors open at 3pm and the tilt commences at 4pm. Show tickets for both nights are only $10 each! Call (806) 242-PUCK (7825).
