Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- Mississippi RiverKings fans are reminded of a big charitable event upcoming this weekend that involves the team getting "bowled over" for a good cause.

Coming up this Sunday afternoon, RiverKings hockey players will take part in the RiverKings With A Cause (RKWAC) "Kings of the Alley" event, from 2:00-5:00 PM at the FunQuest Bowling Alley, on U.S. Highway 72 in Collierville. Fans can bid to have their favorite RiverKings player bowl with them and bids will be taken at Friday night's RiverKings game against Missouri through the second intermission.

All proceeds from the annual event will go to RKWAC's chosen charities and beneficiaries, including Assists for Autism, Hockey for Humanity (Memphis Habitat for Humanity), Ronald McDonald House, and local breast cancer survivors and support.

RKWAC is a fan-run, team-supervised organization that gives fans the opportunity to impact positively in the lives of people in the Mid-South, support the team's charitable efforts and invites the players to help in their efforts.

For more information, call Niki Miller at 901-619-7868.

Also in the near future, select RiverKings players and mascot RiverThing will be at SBEC (Southern Baptist Education Center) in Southaven on Wednesday, January 27th to read to kindergarteners of that school.

UPCOMING RIVERKINGS GAMES

Games coming up this weekend feature the RiverKings in a battle with the Missouri Mavericks both nights for Northern Conference playoff positioning. Game time Friday and Saturday will be at 7:05 PM at the DeSoto Civic Center.

Friday night is Faith and Family Night with the Samaritans and Entergy's Power to Care Initiative serving as the non-profit MVP of the night.

Saturday is Ducks Unlimited/Pack-the-House/Arena White Out Night against the Mavericks. The RiverKings are on their way to packing the DCC with hockey fans. Wear white when you come out for an arena "white out."

Post-game skates are planned after each game. A jersey auction will take place after Saturday's game with the RiverKings wearing special jerseys to support Ducks Unlimited.

Saturday, there will also be a pre-game tail-gate party at the DeSoto Civic Center parking lot 3:00-6:00 PM. Hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks, and more will be available for a donation to the Jr. StreetKings youth roller hockey program.

Fans can also give to the Haitian earthquake relief effort this weekend. Representatives of the faith-based organization Compassion International will be at each entrance both nights to allow fans to give directly to their work in helping those victimized by the recent earthquake. One-hundred percent of the funds raised will go directly to Haiti.

RiverKings hockey remains the best pro sports entertainment value in the Mid-South. For more information about tickets for your home-town hockey team, call 662-342-1755, or go online to www.riverkings.com!
