San Antonio Missions News Release
SAN ANTONIO - After being shutout on Monday night, the Missions offense continued to struggle on Tuesday night. San Antonio plated their one and only run in the eighth inning while surrendering 10 runs to the RoughRiders during the evening. The big damage came in the fourth inning as the Missions allowed six runs during that inning. The Missions are now on a four-game losing streak.
Brandon Komar was the starting pitcher for the Missions. The Frisco offense picked up where they left off on Monday night and scored twice in the top of the first inning. Kellen Strahm started the game off with an infield single. Dustin Harris hit a double to advance Strahm to third base. Justin Foscue drove in Strahm with a base hit to left field. Harris scored the second run of the inning as Blaine Crim grounded into a double play. The Missions trailed 2-0.
After keeping Frisco off the scoreboard the next two innings, the RoughRiders put a crooked number on the board in the top of the fourth inning. Frisco plated six runs on five hits against Komar. After a double and a walk, Jax Biggers drove in the first run of the inning with a base hit to right field. Trey Hair drove in a run with a single to right field as well. Matt Whatley drove in Biggers with a double to left field. With the bases loaded, Dustin Harris drove in a run as he grounded out to first base. Foscue drove in the final two runs of the inning after lacing a single into center field. The Missions trailed 8-0.
Cody Bradford was the starting pitcher for the RoughRiders. The left-hander put together one of his strongest outings of his career. Bradford tossed six shutout innings while allowing five hits and striking out three batters.
The Missions had a scoring opportunity against Bradford in the bottom of the second inning. Yorman Rodriguez began the inning with a base hit. After retiring the next batter, Jorge Ona continued his hot streak with a single to center field. Ripken Reyes grounded out and advanced both runners into scoring position. With runners on second and third and two outs, Chandler Seagle grounded out to end the inning.
San Antonio ended their scoreless innings drought in the bottom of the eighth inning. Facing Kevin Gowdy, Edwin Rojas and Connor Hollis drew back-to-back walks with one out. Gowdy was replaced by Josh Smith. Smith allowed an RBI double to Thomas Milone. Domingo Leyba drew a walk to load the bases. With the bags packed and one out, Yorman Rodriguez grounded into an inning-ending double play. The Missions trailed 8-1
Frisco added two more runs in the top of the ninth inning. Facing Angel Felipe, Foscue hit a single to center field. Crim hit a line drive to Leyba who made the catch. On the play, Leyba received a throwing error attempting to double-up Foscue at first base. Instead, Foscue advanced to third base. Sandro Fabian drove him in with a single to left field.
