Omaha Lancers News Release

OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League have announced a completed transaction with the Madison Capitols. On April 30, 2022, the Lancers and Capitols agreed on a trade which consisted of the Omaha acquiring a 2022 phase 1, 6th round draft pick, along with a 2022 phase 2, 2nd round pick in exchange for a 2022 phase 1, 7th round draft pick and future considerations.

This week Defenseman, Ethan Elias completed the transaction, as he will be joining the Capitols' organization for the 2022-23 season.

Ethan Elias, of Maple Grove, Minnesota, joined the Lancers for his first full-time USHL season in 2021-22. He finished the year with 57 regular season games played and 17 points picked up in the process (3G-14A-17P). Making him the leading point-getting defenseman out of all active defenseman on the Lancers' roster by the end of the season.

Elias contributed both defensively and offensively in the 2022 Clark Cup Playoffs, as he tallied an assist on the first goal of game one against the Fargo Force in the opening series. The game resulted in a 5-2 Omaha victory, kicking off a series they swept two games to none.

Outside of the 2021-22 season, Elias' only tier one junior hockey experience was with the Tri-City Storm for eight games in the 2020-21 season.

Along with playing those eight matchups with Tri-City in 2020-21, Elias suited up with three different teams that season. Starting with Team MPLS Magazine of the Upper Midwest High School Elite Hockey League, where he put up 14 points (7G-7A-14P) in 18 games played.

He also made a pit stop in Bismarck, North Dakota for just three games with the Bismarck Bobcats of the North American Hockey League before heading back to his hometown to play for Maple Grove High School.

Elias' play was dominate as a defenseman at Maple Grove, where he averaged over 1.5 points per game with 36 points through 23 games played (7G-29A-36P). Following his time in Maple Grove, he then headed to Tri-City to begin his USHL career.

The Madison Capitols entered the 2022 Clark Cup Playoffs as the #5 seed in the eastern conference, as they took down the #4 Youngstown Phantoms, #1 Chicago Steel and #3 Muskegon Lumberjacks as they punched their ticket to the Clark Cup Final.

The Capitols took on the western conference champion, Sioux City Musketeers where they fell in the best-of-five series, 3-1.

The Lancers' organization wishes Ethan Elias the best of luck with the Capitols' organization and in his future playing division I college hockey at the University of St. Thomas when his junior hockey career concludes.
