Lancers Acquire Andon Cerbone from Chicago

OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League have announced the acquisition of Forward, Andon Cerbone (2004) from the Chicago Steel to complete a transaction from February 3rd, 2022.

The transaction consisted of the Lancers receiving a 2022 phase II, 5th round draft pick, a 2023 phase I, 3rd round draft pick and future considerations in exchange for Defenseman, Hunter McDonald and a 2023 Phase I, 5th round draft pick. Now, Cerbone fulfills the future considerations.

Andon Cerbone, of Stanford, Connecticut, has played 91 games in the United States Hockey League. All of which, were played in a Chicago Steel uniform.

Cerbone made his USHL debut on January 21, 2021, in a 4-2 road victory over the Youngstown Phantoms. With Cerbone joining the Steel just over the halfway mark of the season, he only played in 30 games in the 2020-21 season, tacking up seven points in the process (2G-5A-7P).

In doing so, Cerbone assisted Chicago in winning the 2021 Clark Cup Championship, giving the Steel their second cup in team history.

The 2021-22 season was Cerbone's first full-time in the USHL, playing in all but one regular season game. With his consistent offensive play, he tallied 38 points in 61 games played (11G-27A-38P), aiding the Steel's way to the top of the eastern conference standings at the conclusion of the regular season with a 39-13-9-1 record (88 points). As they only trailed the top team in the western conference, the Tri-City Storm who took home the Anderson Cup as regular season champions with a 47-11-3-1 record (98 points).

Prior to his time in the USHL, the University of Michigan commit played two brief stints with the Mid-Fairfield Rangers 16U AAA program where he played a total of 12 games for 18 points (6G-12A-18P).

Cerbone also played prep school hockey at Brunswick School for the 2019-20 season, putting up dominate statistics of 11 goals and 36 assists for 47 points through 31 games played.

The Lancers are excited to welcome Andon Cerbone into the organization this upcoming season and wish former Defenseman, Hunter McDonald luck in the rest of his junior hockey career and at Northeastern University.
