Omaha, NE - The Omaha Beef, professional indoor football team, has re-signed running back and former UNO Maverick Jamar Day to a 2008 contract. The Beef have also added Travis Hines for 2008.

Day will begin his third season with the Beef in 2008. In his two previous seasons with the team, Day has rushed for 407 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has also caught 18 passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns.

Head Coach Steve Warren says Day will be an excellent addition to the 2008 squad.

"Jamar is a powerful runner," Warren said. "He runs north and south and will be crucial to our 1-2 punch from the running back position."

Day played his college football at Antelope Valley College and the University of Nebraska-Omaha. While at UNO, he rushed for 2,296 yards (seventh-best in UNO history) and 24 touchdowns. Day holds four of the top 10 rushing days by a Maverick; his single-game high was 284 yards against Tiffin. In the same game, he also tied a school record with his five touchdowns. Day helped the Mavericks win two North Central Conference championships in 2004 and 2005.

Hines, a 5'9, 165 pound cornerback, is a native of Riviera Beach, Florida, and will begin his first season with the Beef in 2008. He was a part of the Dana College Vikings football team for two years. In addition to playing football, Hines was a jumper on the track teams. He still holds two indoor track records at Dana with his 23'0 long jump and 46'6.75 triple jump, both set in 2004. Hines later transferred to Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. At Tarleton State, he walked onto the football team and also ran track.

Day, Hines and the rest of the Omaha Beef will begin their ninth season in professional indoor football in March 2008. All home games will be played at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. The Beef are a member of the United Indoor Football Association, the premier indoor football league in America. The Beef are committed to making a positive difference in the Omaha area through football, fun and community service. For more information about the Beef, log on to www.beeffootball.com.
