Omaha Beef News Release
The Omaha Beef are proud to announce the re-signing of Diezeas Calbert and Allen Burrell Jr. Calbert, a 5'10" 180lb defensive back, is returning for his second year with the Beef. Wide receiver Allen Burrell Jr. played for the Omaha Beef in 2005 and 2006 and since has played for the Sioux Falls Storm.
Burrell finished the 2008 season with the Storm with 47 receptions for 607 yards and tied for 4th in UIF in receiving touchdowns with 13. Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator Tommie Williams said, "Burrell brings needed speed to our receiving corp. He has an uncanny ability to make people miss after the catch. We expect big things from Burell."
Calbert played great defense for the Omaha Beef in 2008 compiling 40 tackles. He was also a member of Team USA who won the 2007 World Championship of American Football. "Diezeas is an excellent cover corner who can shut down opposing receivers. He has great leadership qualities and we expect him to lead or defense to a championship," said Williams.
"We think Diezeas and Burrell will be a great one-two punch on offense and defense. They both offer a lot of speed and athleticism to our roster," said Team President Dakota Crow, "We have high hopes for both of them."
