Olympic Jersey Night on Friday

February 16, 2006 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Adirondack Phantoms News Release

PHILADELPHIA - The Olympic spirit will be in the air at the Wachovia Center this Friday night when the Phantoms play host to the Chicago Wolves at 7:05. The Phantoms will be wearing special jerseys for the game that are replicas of those worn by the 1980 US Olympic team that won the gold medal in Lake Placid, NY. Also, the first 4,000 fans through the doors will receive a commemorative Olympic poster courtesy of Comcast SportsNet.

These game-ready Rbk jerseys feature blue and red striping on the bottom half of the jersey and on the arms. The letters "USA" on the crest, as well as the numbers on the sleeves and the back, are navy blue with red trim. Like the original 1980 jerseys, the player nameplates on the back are blue with white lettering.

After the game, the jerseys will be auctioned off in a live event at the Cingular Pavilion. As with past auctions, fans must register to bid before the auction, and can pre-bid on jerseys of their choice up until the end of the second intermission. Payment must be made after the auction via major credit card, cash, or check.

During the auction, the Phantoms will also be taking bids on the most valuable Philadelphia Zoo tour available, with Phlex and Phantoms winger Josh Gratton. The Zoo's "Walk on the Wild Side" offers scientific insight on animal behavior. The winning bidder must be available for the tour on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 3:00 PM.

In addition to Friday's game with the Wolves, the Phantoms also host the Manchester Monarchs this Sunday evening at 5:05 PM at the Wachovia Spectrum. Tickets for both games, as well as all Phantoms games, are available online at www.phantomshockey.com or by calling (215) 336-2000, (856) 338-9000 or (302) 984-2000. As always, all kids tickets for all Phantoms games are just $8.
