
Olivier Roy Named ECHL Goaltender of the Week

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announced in conjunction with the ECHL that goaltender Olivier Roy has been named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Nov. 14-20.
Roy, 20, was 2-0-0 with a goals against average of 1.50 and a save percentage of .959 in two victories over Ontario last week. The Thunder improved to 7-4-3 on the season and were 3-1-0 during the week to move into second place in the Pacific Division.
Roy's selection is the first for the Thunder this season and ninth in club history.

Roy made a career high 40 saves in a 3-2 win at Citizens Business Bank Arena on ¬ËFriday to earn his first ¬ËECHL ¬Ëwin and followed that up with 30 saves in a 3-1 victory on ¬ËSaturday.
The native of Causapscal, Quebec, is 2-3-3 with one shutout, a 2.32 goals-against average and a save percentage of .925 in eight appearances with the ¬ËThunder this season.
Selected in the fifth round (133rd overall) by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2009 NHL ¬ËEntry Draft, Roy was ranked as the second highest North American goaltender by the Central Scouting Bureau before the draft and he represented Canada at the 2011 World Junior Hockey Championships.
He appeared in 200 games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with ¬ËCape ¬ËBreton and Acadie-Bathurst going 123-57-8 with 14 shutouts, a 2.77 goals-against average and a save percentage of .906. Roy was named to the Canadian Hockey League All-Rookie Team and received the QMJHL Rookie of the Year award in 2007-08.
