Olivares Sent Down, Vineyard Placed On Disabled List

SAVANNAH, Ga. - RHP Manuel Olivares (0-0, 0.00) was transferred from the Savannah roster to the Kingsport roster and will rejoin Extended Spring Training while LHP Nathan Vineyard (0-2, 14.62) was placed on the Savannah disabled list with a left shoulder strain, the New York Mets announced today.

Olivares (0-0, 0.00), appeared in one game for Savannah, allowing 1 hit and 0 runs in 2.1 innings while striking out 4 and walking 1.

Vineyard (0-2, 14.62) has lost both his starts, allowing 13 runs on 13 hits in 8.0 innings. He has walked 6 and struck out 3. The Georgia-native is the ninth best prospect in the Mets organization according to Baseball America.

Savannah has an off day today and will start a quick two-game series with the Charleston RiverDogs beginning tomorrow. On the hill for the Sand Gnats will be RHP Scott Moviel (1-1, 8.53), who is looking to rebound after a tough loss in Charleston last week. The RiverDogs send righty Noel Castillo (2-0, 0.93) in search of his third win. First pitch from Historic Grayson Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.

It is also the first Food Lion MVP Wednesday of 2008. Fans with a Food Lion MVP Rewards card can show it at the gate to receive half off a general admission ticket.
