Seattle Reign FC News Release
SEATTLE, WA - OL Reign has signed NWSL MVP Jess Fishlock to a two-year deal, with a one-year option, the club announced today. Per league and club policy, the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"After an MVP season last year, I am really happy Jess is coming back to the Reign," said head coach Laura Harvey. "She is a proven winner who wants to turn up every day and compete. Jess has been an integral part of this club since it started, and I know she is not done yet!!!"
Fishlock, a Reign original, had an incredible 2021 season. She played in 24 matches throughout the season and amassed 1,880 minutes of playing time - the second most of any OL Reign player during the 2021 season. The Welsh star scored five goals and tallied four assists, including one brace. Her efforts on the field earned her three NWSL Team of the Month honors, one Save of the Week honor and the title of 2021 NWSL MVP.
Since 2013, Fishlock has been a key element to the Reign's solid midfield. Starting and playing in over 140 matches for the Reign, Fishlock has solidified her place as one of the club's legends. She is a leader for the club on and off the pitch and brings a high level of quality to the team. She has been named to the NWSL Best XI five times and was also named to the NWSL Second XI once.
"10 years later and I'm still here. This club really got me good," said Fishlock. "Super happy to sign for another couple years...excited to see what this group of players can achieve. Thank you to everyone for helping this place feel like home."
