HEADLINES: RedHawks back to .500 ... Tejeda goes 6 shutout innings ... Volquez starts tonight

TODAY'S OPPONENT: The Memphis Redbirds are the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. They have been a member of the Pacific Coast League since 1998. Last year, Memphis finished third in the PCL's American North division with a 71-72 record.

TODAY'S GAME: The RedHawks continue their 12-game road trip in Memphis. This is their 67th game this season, 36th road game and 12th game against Memphis. The RedHawks are on a stretch where they will play 24 of 32 games on the road May 18-June 18.

LAST GAME: The RedHawks used an excellent start by Rob Tejeda to beat Memphis, 5-1. Tejeda gave up no runs on three hits, all singles, over six innings with two walks and eight strikeouts. It was his third quality start of the season. Outfielder Adam Hyzdu went two-for-four with a double and three RBIs to lead the RedHawks offensively. Former RedHawk Jason Conti made his Memphis debut in yesterday's game.

VS. MEMPHIS: The RedHawks are 75-65 against Memphis since the two teams joined the PCL in 1998. They are 32-41 in Memphis since 1998 and 23-32 at AutoZone Park (since 2000). Memphis' only season series win over the RedHawks came in 2000 and the RedHawks are 4-1-3 in season series against Memphis.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Starting pitcher Edinson Volquez makes his 14th start of the season for the RedHawks. He is the No. 1 prospect in the Texas organization according to Baseball America. Volquez has made four straight quality starts, going 0-1 with a 2.42 ERA (7 ER/26 IP), 11 walks and 26 strikeouts. He has received four support runs in his last four starts. Travis Smith starts for Memphis.

STREAKERS: Second baseman Drew Meyer is on a seven-game hitting streak dating back to June 4. He is 13-for-28 (.464) during the streak with two RBIs to raise his average from .263 to .309 (46 rise). Relief pitcher Erasmo Ramirez has not given up a run in his last five outings (6.1 IP). He has given up two hits, no walks and struck out six in his last five outings.

.500: The RedHawks are at .500 (33-33). They have not been above .500 since they were 6-5 after a loss at Nashville April 16.

STANDINGS: The RedHawks are 4.5 games out of first place for the first time since April 24 after a rainout against Nashville. The RedHawks were 11.5 games out of first after May 29 and have made up seven games in the standings in 15 games.

STARTING PITCHERS: In the last 16 games, Oklahoma starters have six wins. They have given up 28 runs, 26 earned over 91.2 innings (2.55 ERA) with 40 walks and 79 strikeouts. RedHawks starters have 10 quality starts in the last 16 games.

BULLPEN: The RedHawks bullpen has given up two runs in the last five games (1.04 ERA - 2 ER/17.1 IP). During that span, the bullpen has given up nine hits, four walks and struck out 19. The RedHawks bullpen ERA has dropped from 4.13 to 3.89 (.24 drop) in the last five games.

HOME RUNS: The RedHawks have hit three home runs in their last 11 games. All were hit by Jason Hart , June 8 and 10 at Omaha and June 14 at Memphis.

CLOSE GAMES: Twenty-six of Oklahoma 's 33 wins this season have come by four runs or less, including 15 one-run wins. Also, 25 of Oklahoma's 33 losses this season have come by four runs or less. They have nine losses by one run, eight losses by two runs, four losses by three runs and four losses by four runs.

RADIO UPDATE: The RedHawks' flagship station for most games is KEBC 1340 AM. However, there are a few dates the flagship station will change due to scheduling conflicts. The RedHawks will be on AM 1000 KTOK June 17 and 24. They will be on KFXY 1640 The Score June 25.

DOT-DOT-DOTS: Relief pitcher Wes Littleton has stranded six inherited runners (none allowed) in his first six outings as a RedHawk ... Relief pitcher Erasmo Ramirez has stranded all 11 runners he has inherited this season.
