LAST GAME:
The Grizzlies took a 1-0 lead off RedHawks starter Robinson Tejeda in the second inning. Nate Schierholtz led off the inning with a triple and scored on a double by Brett Harper. Oklahoma struggled offensively against Fresno starter Matt Palmer over five innings, but managed to tie the game at one when Jason Botts hit his second home run of the season in Triple-A. The Grizzlies, however, would regain the lead for good shortly thereafter. Harper lead off the seventh inning with a single and the next two batters reached on throwing errors to load the bases. A force play at home retired the first out of the inning, but Kea Kometani hit Ivan Ochoa with a pitch to bring in the go ahead run. With Scott McClain at the plate and the bases still loaded, Kometani threw a wild pitch that brought home the game's final run.
MURRAY RETURNS TO ROTATION:
A.J. Murray was optioned to Oklahoma on May 8 and will rejoin the RedHawks rotation today to start against Fresno. The left-hander had two wins in six starts, although only pitched one inning in his final Oklahoma outing. While with Texas, Murray made one start and picked up the win May 3 at Oakland, allowing three runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts in just over five innings. Oklahoma has earned just three victories in his absence.
KOMEN FOR THE CURE:
The RedHawks will wear pink jerseys for today's festivities. After the game, those shirts will be autographed and auctioned off in the stadium with proceeds benefiting breast cancer research through the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. This marks the second time that the RedHawks have supported the charity in this manor, but have donned pink hats (two years ago) and pink wristbands (three years ago). Several players regular jersey numbers have been changed for play today.
FOUR STRAIGHT:
Oklahoma has lost four straight games for the first time this season. The RedHawks had one three-game losing streak from April 22 through 24 and have had a pair of two-game streaks this year. The 2007 RedHawks had 10 losing streaks of three games or more and half of those went four games or longer.
FRESNO AT A GLANCE:
Brad Hennessey was optioned to Fresno earlier this week and will make his 2008 PCL debut this afternoon. The right-hander went 1-1 with an ERA of 12.94 in 11 appearances for San Francisco this season... The Grizzlies stole four bases yesterday, matching a season high... Fresno has yet to see-saw between wins and losses this season. The Grizzlies have not seen a stretch thus far this season where they went win-loss-win-loss. They have compiled six winning streaks of at least two games and have five losing streaks of at least two games.
AROUND THE ORGANIZATION:
Texas beat Oakland 6-4 for its fifth straight win... Frisco lost 6-4 at Corpus Christi... Bakersfield edged Stockton 8-2... Peoria beat Clinton 4-2.
DOT-DOT-DOT:
The RedHawks have not led a ballgame since game one of Thursday's doubleheader (4-3 lead after four innings) and have not led after six innings since May 5 (1-0 lead at Tacoma in a 2-1 loss)... Jason Botts has two home runs in 12 plate appearances... Nelson Cruz out of the RedHawks starting lineup for the third straight game resting a sore shoulder.
ON THE AIR:
Every game this season can be heard on the RedHawks Radio Network, led by broadcaster Jim Byers for the ninth season, and joined by Adam Marco during each homestand. Fox Sports Radio AM 1340 in Oklahoma City will serve as the flagship station in 2008. The network affiliates this season are KSIW 1450 AM in Woodward, KXCA 1380 AM in Lawton, KPNS 1350 AM in Duncan, KTJS 1420 AM in Hobart, KGFF 1450 AM in Shawnee, and KWSH 1260 AM in Wewoka.
