Oklahoma City wins over Memphis

April 24, 2010 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Oklahoma City Baseball Club News Release

Redbirds starter Lance Lynn was working on a no-hit bid through six innings. However the RedHawks tacked on three runs in the seventh inning, and another five in the eighth to grab an 8-7 win on Saturday night at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.

Esteban German broke up the no-hitter with no outs in the seventh inning. Lynn was quickly removed and the RedHawks immediately tacked on three runs to tie the game.

A five-run eighth inning propelled by a Chris Davis three-run homer and a two-out single by German scoring two runners handed the RedHawks their eleventh win of the year.

Brandon McCarthy (1-0) went seven innings for the fourth consecutive start ( 7.2 innings in his third start), receiving a no-decision after scattering seven hits, three earned runs, and six strikeouts. Winning pitcher Geoff Geary (3-2) managed 1.2 innings, allowing four earned runs. Accepting the loss was Oneli Perez (0-1) who gave up five earned runs over two innings.

Chad Tracy added to his team-leading RBI total, doubling in two runs in the seventh inning. Tracy tops the ballclub with 16.

Jon Jay extended his hit-streak to 16 games with a three hit evening.

Oklahoma City and Memphis will continue their four-game set Sunday afternoon at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Michael Kirkman and Rich Hill are slated to pitch for the RedHawks and Redbirds respectively with a first pitch scheduled for 4:05 pm.
