Oklahoma City Thunder Assign D.J. White to 66ers
March 18, 2009 - NBA G League (G League)
Tulsa 66ers News Release
Oklahoma City Thunder Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti announced that the team has assigned forward D.J. White to the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Development League.
White (6-9, 251) has yet to see game action with the Thunder since having successful jaw surgery in January 4, the second and final procedure. White underwent initial surgery on October 13 to remove a benign growth from his jaw. He was cleared by team doctors on March 16 to resume full contact drills.
White earned consensus Second Team All-America, named Big Ten Player of the Year and received First Team All-Conference honors as a senior at Indiana. He averaged 17.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest, the first to average a double-double at Indiana since 1994.
White, the 34th player to be assigned by an NBA franchise to an NBA D-League affiliate this season, is expected to join the 66ers for tonight's contest at Colorado. He will wear number 00.
