Tulsa Oilers News Release
The Tulsa Oilers went 1-0-2 last week, and are currently in third place in the Northwest Division with a record of 9-6-4, 22 points. The Oilers trail second-place Oklahoma City by 2 points and first-place Colorado by 5.
The Oilers kicked off their week in New Mexico Wednesday night against the Scorpions. Wes Scanzano scored twice, and Todd Marcellus tallied three assists, but the Oilers fell 4-3 in overtime. Jason Bermingham added a goal and an assist in the loss for Tulsa, and Rod Branch made 38 saves.
Friday night, New Mexico came to the Convention Center for the back-end of a home-and-home. Jason Bermingham and Todd Marcellus each racked up a goal and an assist, and Tim Kelleher stopped 20, but the Scorpions outlasted the Oilers 3-2 in a shootout.
Then, concluding the week on Saturday, the Oilers hosted the Wichita Thunder on home ice. The game started out feisty, as just 12 seconds in, Mark Scott dropped the gloves and duked it out with the Thunder's Alex Todd. The Oilers used that as a momentum builder, and as a result, defeated the Thunder by a score of 5-3. Anthony D'Arpino tallied a goal and two assists, and Regan Harper added a goal and a helper to lead the way for the Oilers. Derek Reynolds had two assists as well, and Rod Branch turned away 36 Thunder offerings to secure his 8th victory of the year.
Todd Marcellus has scored 10 points in his last 4 games (2G, 8A) and leads the team with 24 points. Jason Bermingham has put on a show of his own in the last 4 games, totaling 9 points (4G, 5A). Bermingham also has a +10 rating in his last 5 games, and is tied with Regan Harper with a +12 overall. Harper and Anthony D'Arpino have led the way on the Oilers' blueline, with 9 points each.
