CHL Names Bauer/Nike Player Of the Week, Vaughn Goaltender of the Week

New Mexico Scorpions center Mike Oliveira has been selected as the Bauer/Nike Central Hockey League Player of the Week and Amarillo goaltender Shawn Degagne has become the first repeat winner as Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week. Oliveira totaled five goals and three assists in three contests, while Degagne allowed a total of two goals against in two games played the past week.
The New Mexico Scorpions won all three of their games the past week, and Oliveira scored in each victory. His most significant performance was in a 4-3 overtime win over visiting Tulsa on November 26th. He scored twice and added an assist in regulation play, then scored the game winning goal on a breakaway to give himself a hat-trick and the Scorpions the victory. In just 11 games with New Mexico this season, Oliveira has scored 11 goals and added 11 assists, and had recorded multiple-point games seven times.
Goaltender Shawn Degagne recorded another tremendous week for the Amarillo Gorillas, allowing just a single goal against in each of two contests. He suffered a 2-1 shootout loss in Lubbock November 26th despite turning aside 25 of 26 shots, then earned a 2-1 overtime win two nights later in a home win over Corpus Christi, making 35 saves in the process. With his outstanding play the past week, Degagne has lowered his goals against average to just 1.95 and has increased his save percentage to .941. With ten victories on the season, Degagne trails only Colorado's Ryan Bach (12).
