Tulsa Oilers News Release
Tulsa, Okla. - Tulsa Oilers Football, proud member of the IFL, announces the signing of former Tulsa Golden Hurricane defensive tackle, Tyarise Stevenson prior to their Week Six matchup on the road against Iowa.
Stevenson, comes to Tulsa fresh off of gaining NFL life experience with the Minnesota Vikings. The 6'3, 365 lbs. defensive presence was signed by the Vikings in April of 2022 as an undrafted free agent and was later waived with an injury settlement from Minnesota's injured reserve list prior to the 2022 season. The former NFL-contracted defensive tackle suffered an AC joint injury prior to his intended rookie campaign.
"Stevenson is a big player, and is familiar with the area, having played at Tulsa," said head coach Marvin Jones. "He is someone that can clog up the middle and be a force in the pass rush game."
Prior to his pro career, the Donaldsonville, Louisiana native played his college football at the University of Tulsa, redshirting in 2016 and seeing playing time in all five seasons from 2017-2021. The former Tulsa defensive threat recorded 92 tackles in 47 games and 2.5 sacks over the course of his college career.
