Tulsa Oilers News Release

ALLEN, TX - For the second straight night the Oilers fell behind early and watched the Allen Americans skate away with a 5-1 win on Saturday evening at the Allen Event Center.

Americans' forward Brian McMillin scored twice in the span of two and a half minutes in the first period to jumpstart the home side.

Instead of focusing on mounting a comeback in the second, the Oilers spend most of the frame shorthanded. Tulsa incurred five straight minor penalties but managed to keep the Americans off the board. Goaltender Steve Christie and the Oilers penalty kill unit thwarted a pair of short 5-on-3 Allen advantages and still found themselves down by two heading to the third.

The Americans wasted little time getting the insurance goal they needed. Newly acquired forward Mark Nebus shoved a puck under Christie's pads to give Allen a 3-0 lead just 45 seconds into the period. The Americans, who improved to 17-2-2 when leading after two periods, kept the pressure on Tulsa and tallied twice more over the next three minutes. Goals by Jeff Martens and Jarret Lukin put the game out of the Oilers reach. Jason Weeks scored Tulsa's lone goal late in the period to rob Rejean Beauchemin of a shutout.

Allen swept the weekend series from Tulsa, but the Oilers won the regular season series by a count of 4-3.

Tulsa, which fell to 21-17-5, will return to action on Friday for the final contest of the regular season with Wichita.
