Allen Americans News Release
The Allen Americans picked up their third straight victory this evening with a 5-1 throttling of the Tulsa Oilers in front of 4,438 at the Allen Event Center. The win improves the Americans record to 26-10-7 on the season.
The Americans would take a 1-0 lead 11:45 into the opening period when Brian McMillin buried the rebound from Colton Yellow Horn's backhander past Tulsa netminder Steve Christie. The goal was McMillin's ninth of the season and first since January 16. McMillin would find the back of the net again just 2:23 later when his one-timer beat Tulsa netminder Steve Christie to extend the Americans lead to 2-0. Colton Yellow Horn and Jarret Lukin were credited with the assists on the play.
Rejean Beauchemin finished the first period with 7 saves on 7 shots while Christie stopped 10 of 12.
The second period saw no scoring despite 14 total shots on goal and a combined 6 powerplay opportunities. Through forty minutes of play in Allen, the Americans led the Oilers in shots 21-12.
The Americans came out firing to start the third period and would quickly double their lead to 4-0 behind goals from Mark Nebus and Jeff Martens at 0:45 and 2:12, respectively. Nebus's tally was his eleventh of the season while Martens goal was his eighth. Allen was not done just yet, as Jarret Lukin would fire Brian McMillin's feed from behind the goal line past Christie to give the Americans a 5-0 lead at the 4:26 mark of the frame. The goal was Lukin's sixteenth of the season.
Tulsa's Jason Weeks ended Rejean Beauchemin's bid for a shutout with 2:32 remaining in regulation but the Oilers would be unable to inch any closer. Beauchemin finished the night with 24 saves on 25 shots to improve to 12-4-4 on the season.
