Oilers Lose Third Straight with 3-1 Setback to Brahmas

TULSA, OK - For the third game in a row, the Tulsa Oilers generated several quality scoring chances. For the third game in a row those chances didn't add up to pucks in the net.

Tulsa (6-8-1) dropped it's third straight game and second in a row at home in a 3-1 defeat to the Fort Worth Brahmas (5-5-2) on Tuesday night in front of 3,358 at the BOK Center.

An early Oilers powerplay turned disastrous when Brahmas defenseman Derrick Pallis scored a shorthanded goal at the 5:40 mark of the first period. The rising slap shot was Pallis' first goal of the season and the third shorthanded marker surrendered by the Oilers this season.

It was Pallis' pass in the second period that gave Chad Woollard a breakaway just four minutes into the second period. The 14-year pro tucked a backhand under the pad of Keserich to push the Fort Worth lead to 2-0. With just over three minutes remaining in the middle frame, a nifty passing play between Sy Nutkevitch and Tomas Klempa led to another Brahmas' goal. Klempa, who finished the night with a goal and an assist, found himself alone in front of the Oilers net and roofed a wrist shot for his third goal of the season. Ben Gordon provided the only spark of the night for the Oilers with a brilliant individual effort at the end of the second period. With Fort Worth defenseman Joe Tolles squarely between him and the net, Gordon ducked to the middle of the ice, slid the puck around Tolles, and guided it through the legs of Brahmas goalie Brad Fogal.

Despite outshooting the Brahmas 12-4 over the final 20 minutes, the Oilers were unable to solve Fogal again. The Fort Worth netminder ended up with 35 saves to record his fifth win of the season and push the Brahmas to a third consecutive road victory.

The Oilers, who have scored just eight goals in the last five games, will return to the ice on Friday night against the Bloomington Blaze. For one night only, the Oilers will be transformed into the Gotham City Crusaders and will wear special "Batman" jerseys. In the spirit of Black Friday, the entire evening will have a "Batman" theme as the Crusaders try to resuce Gotham from the oncoming Blaze. Puck drop is set for 7:35 p.m. at the BOK Center.
