Tulsa Oilers News Release
TULSA, OK - With only 22 shots, the Oilers (9-4-2) still managed six goals and held on throughout a wild third period to outlast the Laredo Bucks (3-9-0) 6-4 in front of 3,458 at the BOK Center.
After trailing 1-0 after the first period, the Tulsa offense came to life for four straight goals. Dylan Clarke fired in his sixth of the year on the powerplay to get things started for the home side at the 3:03 mark of the second period. Jason Weeks registered his first goal as an Oiler and gave Tulsa its first lead of the night when he tipped in a Jeff Terminesi shot at 12:08.
Both teams came to life in the final twenty minutes with the Oilers adding to their lead on markers from Terminesi and Ryan Cramer. Laredo responded with Mark Nebus notching his second goal of the night and Joseph Harcharik scoring on the powerplay to cut the Oilers lead to 4-3. Mike Ullrich gave the Oilers a two-goal cushion when he re-directed a saucer pass from Ryan Cramer at the 8:31 mark. Ullrich has scored five times in his last three games and leads the CHL with 12 goals. After AJ Hau brought Laredo back within one, Michel Beausoleil scored on an empty net to seal the deal for Tulsa.
With a goal and three assists, Terminesi had his best game of the season and his fellow rookies, Ullrich, Clarke and Cramer, all had multiple point nights as the Oilers jumped to first place in the Berry Conference standings.
Mike Garman made his first start in goal for Tulsa and stopped 24 of 28 shots to earn his first professional win.
The Oilers are back at home Friday night at 7:35pm to take on Wichita in the front end of a home-and-home series with the Thunder.
