Bucks Comeback Falls Short

LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, fall to the Tulsa Oilers 6-4.

The Laredo Bucks traveled to Tulsa for the first time in 2011-2012 season Thursday night. Torrie Jung was in net for the Bucks and made several key saves during the first period. The Bucks were able to kill off two back to back tripping penalties to keep it scoreless through the 13 minute mark of the period. Mark Nebus would light the lamp at 13:53 giving the Bucks a 1-0 lead. Justin Styffe and Rusty Masters assisted Nebus on his first goal of the season.

The Tulsa Oilers would score on their third powerplay opportunity of the game, when Dylan Clarke tied the score at 1-1. The goal occurred at 3:03 in the second period. The Bucks had the man advantage two times in a row, but were unable to convert. Jason Weeks made the score 2-1 for the Oilers, with an even strength goal at 12:08. However, the Bucks outshot the Oilers 9-3 during the period.

The Bucks would start the third period with 39 seconds remaining on the Sparling penalty kill, as time expired Jeff Terminesi scored an even strength goal. Shortly after at 3:59 Ryan Cramer scored a powerplay goal, giving the Oilers a 4-1 lead. But the Bucks would fight right back. Mark Nebus fired a bullet to score his second goal of the night at 5:55, assisted by Tyler Stitt. Shortly after the Nebus goal, Joseph Harcharik would score a powerplay goal at 7:30. Harcharik was assisted by Adam Rivet and Kyle Mariani. The Oilers, Mike Ullrich, would score a minute later keeping it a two goal game at 5-3. A.J. Hau took advantage of a neutral zone turn-over and scored an unassisted goal at 12:15, cutting the Oiler lead to one goal. The Bucks were on the powerplay the final minutes of the game and pulled Torrie Jung to have a two man advantage. However, the Bucks comeback would fall short as the Oilers were able to score an empty net goal in the final seconds to make the score 6-4.
