
Blaze Drop Hard-Fought Battle in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Indiana - The Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, dropped a 3-1 decision in a Thanksgiving night battle to the host Fort Wayne Komets.
The game was scoreless through one period, although the Komets outshot the Blaze 24-15. Chris Auger opened the scoring for the Komets when he converted a power play goal with 12:22 remaining in the middle period. The Komets increased the lead to 2-0 with 4:18 left in the second period when Brent Henley lit the lamp.
The Blaze cut the deficit to 2-1 with a tally from Luke Popko in his first game back from the injured reserve list with 8:06 left in the third period. The Blaze emptied the net for an extra attacker with 40 seconds remaining, but the Komets sealed the win with 12 seconds left on an empty net goal from Brett Smith.
The Komets outshot the Blaze 47-37. The Komets improve to 7-5-0, while the Blaze fall to 1-9-2.
The Blaze complete the stretch of three games in three days with Friday and Saturday contests at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The Dayton Gems visit on Friday, while the Allen Americans play their only game against the Blaze this season on Saturday. Face-off both nights is at 7:05. The Blaze are offering Black Friday deals for both games, with $14 tickets available for $7, and $2 beers and hot dogs available each night.
