Tulsa Oilers News Release
Turnpike Tussle: The Tulsa Oilers and Oklahoma City Blazers play the eighth game in this season's Ford Turnpike series today.
Records: Oilers are 16-16-3 with 35 points in fourth place in the Northwest Division. Oklahoma City is 22-15-1 with 45 points tied with Wichita for second place in the Northwest Division.
Season Series: The Blazers hold the edge in the seven previous games, 4-3. Neither team has won two games in a row in this series. The Blazers took last night's contest in Oklahoma City, 5-2. The two teams will square off three more times after tonight's game, with all three of those games coming here in Tulsa (Feb. 4; Feb. 21; Mar. 3).
Last Night: The Blazers carried a 3-0 lead into the third period, but the Oilers started that period on a two-man advantage. Jim Dahl scored just 34 seconds into the period and added another goal with 13:35 left to play, cutting the Blazers lead to 3-2. Tim Earl and Justin Chwedoruk rounded out the scoring for the Blazers who also got two goals from Ryan Johnston and a goal from Marty Standish.
I'll Help: That's been the theme for Oilers right winger Jaroslav Cesky this weekend. He had two assists (along with a goal) Friday night in Memphis, and assisted on each of the Oilers goals last night.
Oh No, Beau: In last Saturday's 7-5 victory over the Blazers, Michel Beausoleil had four goals and one assist. He had three assists last night, giving him eight points (4G, 4A) in the last two games against the Oilers.
Next Up: The Oilers continue a three game home stand next weekend. They host the Memphis RiverKings Friday at 7:35 p.m. and the Youngstown SteelHounds Saturday at 7:35 p.m.
Oklahoma City begins a four game road trip tonight. Next weekend the Blazers play at Lubbock, Austin and Laredo.
