Tulsa Oilers News Release
TULSA, OK- The Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League have finalized their opening day roster, head coach Garry Unger announced today.
"I'm pleased with the team that we've put together," said Unger. "I think that we've picked up a lot of speed and I look for great things from our young guys."
Of the final 20 men on the roster, 11 of them are returning from last year's team, including forward Pat Hallett (Tulsa's only All Star last season) and goalie Rod Branch. The veteran spots are occupied by Branch, defensemen Jorin Welsh, and forwards Chris Johnston, Jamie Steer, and Todd Marcellus. A complete listing of the 2002-2003 roster follows on the next page.
The Oilers season begins on Friday night in Indianapolis against the Ice and continues on Saturday night in Oklahoma City against the Blazers. Both games can be heard live on the radio on AM1300 in Tulsa.
The Oilers open their home schedule next weekend when they host the Ice on Friday night, October 25th, and the Bossier â Shreveport Mudbugs on Saturday night, October 26th, at the Tulsa Convention Center. The puck drops at 7:35 each night. On Saturday night, the first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive a magnet schedule from Mazzio's Pizza. Tickets are available at local Drug Marts, the Tulsa Convention Center Box Office, the Oilers office, or by phone at 584-2000.
