Oil Kings Stuparyk Wins Gold

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings would like to congratulate Oil Kings video coach Jory Stuparyk as Team Canada took gold at the 2012 Women's World Championships on Saturday. Stuparyk served as video coach for Team Canada as they won their first World Championship since 2007 in a thrilling 5-4 come from behind win over the United States.

This marked Canada's tenth gold medal at the IIHF Women's World Championships and ended a streak of four straight losses to the Americans in the gold medal final.

Stuparyk has been a member of the Oil Kings coaching staff for the last two seasons. He also teaches and coaches with the Hockey Program at Vimy Ridge Academy. Stuparyk has served as a coach at multiple levels of hockey including CIS, Midget AAA and now in the Western Hockey League. He has also worked extensively with Hockey Canada as a video coach for the women's U18, U22 and National Women's Team winning multiple world championships prior to this. This past summer he also worked with the men's world junior team summer development camp in Edmonton.
