Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
Cranbrook, BC - Laurent Brossoit made 32 saves to help guide the Oil Kings to a 3-1 win over the Kootenay Ice in Cranbrook on Wednesday night. T.J. Foster, Tyler Maxwell and Jordan Peddle tallied for the Oil Kings in the victory. Foster's 25th of the season matches his career high from last season. Maxwell's 37th was his eight game winner of the year and the 133rd goal of his career.
Brossoit had a brilliant night between the pipes for the Oil Kings. His shutout was broken with just under three minutes left on a 5 on 3 power play. Despite missing out on a Oil Kings record breaking fourth shutout on the season he continues to add to his own franchise record with 36 wins in 11-12. Edmonton improved their record to 5-0-0-0 on the year against Kootenay.
Edmonton continues to hold a six point lead over the Moose Jaw Warriors for first place in the Eastern Conference. The Oil Kings are just two points back of the Tri City Americans in the chase for the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy awarded to the WHL's regular season champion. Earlier in the day the Oil Kings were ranked eighth nationally in the CHL Top Ten. This marked the 11th straight week that Edmonton has been ranked.
Next up the Kings will put their 25-5-1-1 home record on the line. The Oil Kings return to Rexall Place for a pair of weekend games versus East Division foes. Saturday it's Scouts Canada sleepover night as the Oil Kings take on the Swift Current Broncos. The Oil Kings will don special Scouts Canada Themed Jerseys to be auctioned off for this event! Following the game the Oil Kings will play host to over 1000 Scouts for a Post game sleepover at Rexall Place! Puck drops at 7PM - doors open at 6.
