Port Huron Prowlers News Release

Port Huron, MI - Coming into this game these teams were headed in opposite directions. The River Dragons came into this game playing some of their best hockey of the season whereas the Prowlers were coming into tonight going through their biggest cold streak of the season so far. The Prowlers would look to steady the ship and get back to their winning ways. In net tonight for the Prowlers making his 2nd career start was Richard Shipman and for the River Dragons in net was Bailey MacBurnie.

The Prowlers came out of the locker room with a ton of energy in front of their home fans and it showed as they got on the board early in the 1st period. After Dante Suffredini made a great play to keep the puck in the zone found Evan Foley behind the net who then found a wide-open Adam Morgan who was able to fire it home to put the Prowlers up 1-0. Then just over ten minutes into the period Dustin Henning fire off a cannon from the point and Mike Moroso was able to put it in the back of the net and put the Prowlers up 2-0. The River Dragons had a few strong scoring chances towards the end of the period on the PP but Richard Shipman was very strong in net turning away all 14 shots he faced in the period.

If you like goals then the 2nd period was made for you because we had combined 6 goals in that period with each team finding the back of the net three times. The first goal of the period came off the stick of Jay Croop to cut the score in half. The Prowlers would quickly respond with a beautiful deflection by Dalton jay for his 19th goal of the season. The River Dragons would quickly put 2 goals in the back of the net both scored by Pietrantonio. The Prowlers would regain the lead off a point shot from Gino Mini. The prowlers would end one more in the period with Adam Morgan's 2nd goal of the game to put the Prowlers up 5-3 going into the third.

The third period was mostly a defensive shutdown as the Prowlers were able to stifle any opportunities that the Dragons had and finally get back in the win column with a 6-3 victory. The Prowlers have been an excellent home team so far this season and they continued to show that here tonight. The Prowlers and River Dragons will be back at it again tomorrow night at 7:05pm.
