Offensive Explosion Propels Cutters to Victory

New Haven County Cutters News Release
The New Haven County Cutters unleashed an all out offensive attack against the Can-Am League Grays, pummeling the opposition's pitching staff for 14 hits and an 11-6 victory on Wednesday afternoon before the largest crowd at Yale Field all season.
It was Camp Day at the stadium and the Cutters used the energy from the 3000-plus campers in the stands to jump on the Grays early and often. New Haven County had built a 9-2 by the end of the sixth inning, more than sufficient for Cutters starter Courtney Hall.
Hall pitched eight innings for the second consecutive start, this time picking up the win. He surrendered three earned runs on nine hits, striking out three and issuing two free passes in his third victory of the year.
In addition to their impressive hit total, the Cutters lineup received plenty of help from spotty control from the Grays' pitchers, who walked 10 batters. On four separate occasions, including three innings in a row, the Cutters loaded the bases with less than two outs. It would spell disaster for the Grays as New Haven County would score at least two runs in each of those situations.
Keto Anderson got things going for New Haven County in a rather different manner than he is accustomed to. The league's second leading run scorer was the one doing the driving in today with four RBIs on 3 for 4 hitting. Continuing to make a strong impression with his new club, Junior Zamora also rapped three hits.
The Grays made the score more respectable in their final at bat when Chris Burke hit his seventh home run of the year, a three-run job that concluding the scoring on the day.
The first place Cutters will try to extend their South Division lead on the road for the next six games. Elmira comes to New Haven County following the weeklong trip. The three game set against the Pioneers begins on Friday, August 12 at 7:05. There will be a spectacular fireworks display follow that game.
