Time: 3:12 ATT: 3,214 W: Randy Rapp (3-1) L: Shawn Ryan (2-1) S: Christian Mendoza (18) HR: NJ - Ricardo Cordova (6), Steve Checksfield (8) Light-hitting 2B TJ Shimizu was the hero, as Quebec rallied from deficits of 4-1 and 5-3 to edge New Jersey 6-5 in ten innings. Shimizu, who came into the game hitting .196, hit a game-winning RBI single in the tenth off of Randy Rapp, making his first appearance in a Jackals uniform. New Jersey went ahead 4-1 after 1B Steve Checksfield's three-run home run in the fourth, but the Capitales chipped away with two in the sixth and two more in the eighth to tie the game at five. Five different players had two hits for Quebec, while 2B Ricardo Cordova was 2-for-5 with a home run for the Jackals. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NEW HAVEN COUNTY 11, GRAYS 6 @ West Haven, Conn. Time: 3:04 ATT: 3,045 W: Courtney Hall (3-3) L: Andrew Edwards (1-2) S: None HR: GRAYS - Mark Burke (7) New Haven County took advantage of ten walks and two hit batsmen to go along with fourteen hits of their own to overwhelm the Grays 11-6. CF Keto Anderson, 2B Mike LaRosa and 3B Junior Zamora had three hits apiece for the Cutters, while Courtney Hall had a decent outing for his third win of the season, scattering nine hits and giving up three runs in eight innings of work. Up 4-2, New Haven County scored three in the fifth, three in the sixth and two more in the seventh to put the game away for good. Four different players had two hits for the Grays, including RF Mark Burke, who hit a three-run home run in the ninth. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ELMIRA 9, BROCKTON 3 @ Brockton, Mass. Time: 2:52 ATT: 5,057 W: Rolando Viera (1-0) L: Grant Dorn (3-1) S: None HR: BRO - Guye Senjem (11), Jake Daubert (2) Elmira unleashed a rare display of offensive firepower, banging out sixteen hits and snapping a 24-game road losing streak to cool off sizzling Brockton 9-3. Every Pioneer in the batting order had at least one hit, with 3B Derrick Barrows leading the way with a 3-for-5 afternoon. Rolando Viera gave a superb performance for his first victory of the season, going seven innings and allowing one run on five hits. Brockton's runs came on a solo home run in the fourth from RF Guye Senjem and a two-run blast in the ninth by 3B Jake Daubert. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- NORTH SHORE 8, WORCESTER 5 @ Worcester, Mass. Time: 3:29 ATT: 2,747 W: Ryan Bicondoa (6-3) L: Dallas Mahan (3-2) S: Alexander Herrera (3) HR: WOR - Andy Brown (16), Yohanny Valera (10) North Shore trailed Worcester 5-4 after six, but engineered a four-run rally in the seventh to win 8-5. 2B Marcos Agramonte started the rally with a single and scored on SS Yuri Sanchez' triple in the following at-bat. LF Garrett Weir plated Sanchez with an RBI single. Weir stole second, then moved to third on a single by CF Rob Fischer and subsequently scored on a groundout to first by 1B Vic Davilla. Fischer later scored on a passed ball. Ryan Bicondoa got the win despite allowing five earned runs on eight hits over six innings. Weir, Fischer and Davilla each had three hits for the Spirit. RF Andy Brown and 1B Yohanny Valera homered for Worcester.
