PEBBLES OF KNOWLEDGE:
Third baseman Emmanuel Rivera has been the most consistent bat in the Wilmington lineup. He added another double to his ledger Saturday night to put him at 10 doubles on the season which leads the team. Friday, he drove in his 25th RBI of the season, also adding to his team-lead in that department. Rivera is off to a strong start to the second month of the campaign and is hitting .318 (14-for-44) in 11 games in May.
Kort Peterson has been on a torrid pace at the plate over the last nine games. On Saturday, he drove in the team's lone run with an RBI double in the ninth inning. Friday, he delivered the game-tying RBI single in the top of the eighth inning to extend his hitting streak to a season-high five games. Over his last nine games, the outfielder is hitting .516 (16-for-31). He is second on the team in hits (33) and home runs (4).
Despite a solid performance on the mound, Arnaldo Hernandez suffered his first loss of the season after winning four straight games entering Saturday's outing. Hernandez was the first Blue Rocks' pitcher to win four straight games since Matt Tenuta accomplished the feat from July 27-August 20, 2016. The righty's last loss was back on June 28, 2017 when he was with Low-A Lexington.
