Offense Leads Way in Bees' Win

(Clinton-IA)- The Bees' offense cranked out nine hits, scoring eight runs in Wednesday's 8-6 win over the Clinton LumberKings, in game two of a three game series in Clinton.

The Bees opened up the game with a three run first inning. Eric Aguilera put the Bees up 1-0 with an RBI double scoring Chad Hinshaw. Mike Fish came home to score on an Angel Rosa groundout, giving the Bees a 2-0 lead. An Exicardo Cayones single capped the frame, scoring Eric Aguilera and the Bees led 3-0.

With two outs in the second inning, Mike Fish ripped a double into left, scoring Erick Salcedo, putting the Bees up 4-0. Eric Aguilera ripped a single in to center, scoring Chad Hinshaw and Mike Fish, giving the Bees a 6-0 lead.

Clinton put up a three run inning of their own in the third. Austin Wilson finished the three run inning with a two run single, cutting the Bees lead to 6-3.

Exicardo Cayones grabbed two runs back with a two run homer to right, upping the Bees' lead to 8-3 in the fifth inning.

Chantz Mack brought the LumberKings to within two runs, with a three run home run in the eighth inning, cutting the Bees' lead to 8-6.

The Bees were able to hang on for the 8-6 win. Reliever Brian Loconsole (2-2) picked up the win while LumberKings' starter Lars Huijer (2-5) was charged with the loss. Joey Krehbiel (4) earned the save.

The Burlington Bees (35-30) and the Clinton LumberKings (30-34) wrap up their three game series on Thursday at 6:30 PM. Ryan Etsell makes the start for the Bees against Edwin Diaz of Clinton.
