OC Blues FC Heads to Pacific Northwest for Two-Game Road Trip

IRVINE, Calif. (September 10, 2015) - Looking to carry their winning momentum on the road, Orange County Blues FC (13-10-3, 42 pts) heads on a two-game road trip to visit Seattle and Vancouver. OC faces Seattle Sounders FC 2 (12-11-3, 39 pts) on Friday night at Starfire Sports Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT. Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 (8-13-5, 29 pts) awaits on Sunday, September 13th at 3:00 p.m. PT at UBC Thunderbird Stadium.

The Blues won arguably their biggest game of the season this past weekend as they took on league rivals LA Galaxy II. After going down 1-0 in the 13th minute, Brenton Griffiths was able to net the equalizer 20 minutes later to tie the match before half. Dominating possession for the remainder of the match, Christofer Ramirez came in off the bench to score the game-winner in the 90th minute.

Seattle is coming off their third loss in a row, with their most recent being a road loss to Austin Aztex. S2 went down 2-0 in the first 34 minutes, and while Sam Garza was able to pull one back for the Rave Green before halftime, Seattle couldn't find an equalizer, falling 2-1 to the Aztex.

Vancouver most recently hosted defending USL Champion Sacramento Republic FC. Sacramento's Justin Braun scored at the half-hour mark, but WFC2's Marco Bustos equalized in the 66th minute. Braun found the game winner in the 71st as Republic took the victory, 2-1.

OC's victory allowed them to clinch a spot in the USL Playoffs and ties them for second in the Western Conference. Seattle is currently tied for sixth and the last playoff spot, needing just two more points to seal their playoff hopes and move them past Tulsa Roughnecks FC.
