Oaks Shutout

July 9, 2005 - California League (CalL1)
Visalia Rawhide News Release

Saturday the Oaks played game two of their three game series against the San Jose Giants. The Oaks one game one 8-4 for their second straight win and looked to continue to build on it. In game two the Oaks sent out right-hander Kevin Lynn vs. righty Juan Serrato for the Giants.

The Giants took the lead first scoring a run in the bottom of the second on a sacrifice fly by Giants catcher Guillermo Rodriguez to go up 1-0. The score would remain that way for the next six innings on great pitching by both teams. The Giants added an insurance run in the eighth to make it 2-0, which would be your final as three San Jose pitchers combine on a seven hit shutout of the Oaks.

Lost in this game was Kevin Lynn who was terrific allowing just one earned run in six innings his best start since joining the Oaks but takes the loss. Juan Serrato is one better though the Giants starter goes seven shutout innings and reliever Joe Bateman picks up his tenth save.

The Oaks play game three the final game of this three game series with the Giants on Sunday, in an afternoon contest. The Oaks will send out right-hander T.A Fulmer vs. righty Garrett Broshuis for the San Jose Giants. Sunday's action begins at 1:00 PM, the Radisson pre-game show begins at 12:40, you can hear all the action on KJUG AM 1270 or log onto the Web at www.kjug.com.
