Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week Announced

TEMPE, AZ (February 22, 2011) -The Central Hockey League announced today that for the second time in less than a month, Rapid City ¬â¢s Danny Battochio has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Week (for the period ending on February 20, 2011). Battochio joins Arizona ¬â¢s Levente Szuper and Tulsa ¬â¢s Ian Keserich as the only players to win the weekly goaltender award twice this season.

The Lively, Ontario native won both of his starts last week allowing just one goal and earning his third shutout of the season on Feb. 15 in a 3-0 victory over Colorado. Battochio followed that up with a 31-save effort against Missouri on Feb. 18 (a 3-1 win). For the week, Battochio stopped 61 of 62 shots (.984 save percentage) and has been a huge catalyst for his team ¬â¢s current 13-game win streak, the longest in franchise history and two short of tying the CHL record for consecutive victories.
CHL Goaltending Leaders
On the season, the 5-10, 180-pound netminder is 23-15-4 with a 2.63 goals against average and a .909 save percentage, winning each of his last five decisions and going 7-2-0 in his last nine decisions. Battochio is currently ranked among the league leaders in wins (23-1st), GAA (2.63-8th), shutouts (3-tied for 3rd) and minutes played (2397:00- 1st).
