Oakland Roots Announce Partnership with UCSF Health

Oakland, CA - Oakland Roots Sports Club has agreed to an exclusive healthcare provider partnership with UCSF Health and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals.

"We are proud to announce a new partnership with UCSF Health and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital who will serve as the official healthcare partner and physicians of Oakland Roots and whose name will be worn on the front of Roots practice and warm up jerseys," said Roots Chief Revenue Officer. "UCSF Health and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital are healthcare innovators who, along with Roots, are very focused on building a healthier generation by encouraging more children and young adults to get physically active. Our organizations are also planning on offering some preseason fit clinics with youth soccer clubs to share tips on stretching, diet and preventative health care to avoid injuries."

UCSF sports medicine team will be onsite at the team's Laney College home games to immediately treat team injuries.

"We are proud to serve as the official sports medicine team for the Oakland Roots soccer team," said Brian Feeley, MD, professor of orthopedic surgery and chief of UCSF sports medicine. "This team is an inspiration to Oakland and East Bay communities and we are happy to support their efforts on the field and off."

The Oakland Roots' medical team will be led by Daniel Thuillier, MD of UCSF Orthopedics and Cindy Chang, MD of UCSF Sports Medicine. The UCSF Health logo will be prominently featured on the front of the players warm up and training jerseys during the season. UCSF Health will also serve as the title sponsor of UCSF Championship Field, the official training field of Oakland Roots SC. The partnership will see UCSF work with Roots to provide community health education (Pre-Season Fit) to selected youth soccer clubs in our area.
