El Paso Locomotive FC Hosts Rival New Mexico United for 2022 Home Opener, Saturday, March 19

EL PASO, Texas - El Paso Locomotive FC (0-1-0, 0 points, West-10) renews its fiercest rivalry this Saturday, March 19, when it hosts New Mexico United (1-0-0, 3 points, West-3) at Southwest University Park for it Home Opener. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. MT and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN Deportes and locally on KFOX14. Tickets are also available online at eplocomotivefc.com/tickets or by calling 915-235-GOAL.

Saturday's Home Opener is highlighted with a post-game fireworks for fans in attendance. In addition, the first 3,000 fans through the gates at Southwest University Park when they open at 4:30 p.m. MT will receive a limited edition El Paso Locomotive FC flag. Fans are encouraged to arrive at the stadium early to secure their flag and cheer on El Paso Locomotive.

El Paso Locomotive and New Mexico United have clashed an outstanding 10 times in what has historically been entertaining matchups. Over the course of 10 regular-season meetings, neither team has been able to truly get the edge over the other with a split record of 2-2-6. The last time the two sides met was in August of last season when Defender Matt Bahner shushed the Isotopes Park crowd with a late goal in the 97th minute to earn the 1-1 draw.

These two sides will meet again at Southwest University Park for the 11th game in the regular-season series. New Mexico United recorded a 2-1 win over Las Vegas Lights and is eager to keep that momentum going against the Locos, while the Locos fell 3-1 against Sacramento Republic on the road to open the season. Despite the weekend result, however, Locomotive is fired up to earn three points against their fiercest rivals and in front of the passionate El Paso crowd.
