Oakland Roots Sign Benny Diaz on Loan from Club Tijuana

Oakland Roots sign Goalkeeper Benny Diaz on Loan from Club Tijuana of Liga MX. The California native comes to Oakland for the 2022 USL Championship season.

"We are excited to add another keeper with California Roots," said Technical Director Jordan Ferrell. "Benny is a player who we know has the ability to really push our goalkeeping unit and will represent the club well."

Diaz got his start for Cimarrones de Sonora FC in the 2017-2018 season before being part of the Querétaro FC set up during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 campaigns. He then joined his current club, Club Tijuana in the summer of 2020. Diaz has made five appearances over two seasons in Liga Mx for Xolos.
