New York Red Bulls II News Release
MONTCLAIR, N.J. - New York Red Bulls II (5-3-3, 20 pts.) are set to host New England Revolution II (7-3-1 23 pts.) in Montclair after playing two matches in four days on the road in Huntsville and Orlando.
Red Bulls II are currently sitting tied for fourth in the Eastern Conference standings with 20 points in 11 matches played. New England is two spots above in second with 23 points in eleven matches.
The last time these two teams matched up on April 21st, New York was able to grab their 100th win in club history with a 1-0 win at Gilette Stadium. Oladayo Thomas scored the lone goal of the match off a penalty kick in the 76th minute and goalkeeper A.J. Marcucci had a fantastic performance in net. The keeper had six saves in the match, with the most important being from the penalty spot to deny New England an early lead.
Coming into today's match, New York will look to recover from an up-and-down weekend on the road. Last Friday, Red Bulls II to grabbed three points in Huntsville thanks to goals by Ricardo Gorday and Ibrahim Kasule. Four days later in Orlando, New York were unable to secure any points in a hard fought 3-2 loss.
New England has been in great form since these last two teams matched up, having posted a 4-1-1 record since. Most recently, they defeated Inter Miami II 1-0 after an eighth minute goal off the head of Pierre Cayet.
New York will look to take advantage of a New England defense that has allowed the fifth most goals in the league with 22. On the other end, New England attackers Damian Rivera, Marcos Dias, and Esmir Bajraktarevic, who each have five goals apiece this season, will be on the radar for the New York defense.
In the last home match against Inter Miami CF II, New York improved their record to 3-2-1 at Montclair and look to add to their success at MSU Soccer Park this season.
